Now that the Assembly has rejected the Governor's revised budget offer, what's next?

Listening to Matt Canter in the Governor's office, it's up to the republicans to make a move. He says they governor is listening today hoping to hear some  words of compromise.

Canter says the “extreme republican members” of the Assembly made it very clear last night they wanted no compromise and were happy with not having a budget.

Besides listening, Canter says the Governor is also working with his cabinet to make plans in case there is no budget. Canter says the Assembly extremists are playing a dangerous game and the state is nearing a fiscal emergency.

As for the republicans, Assembly Speaker Mike Huebsch emailed all legislators this morning asking them to sign a petition forcing the legislature into extraordinary session.

It's a move to pressure the senate into voting on those separate funding bills for public schools and local governments. That, he says will avoid higher property taxes.
