For Grant County, the historic statewide recount in the Supreme Court race is done. County Clerk Linda Gebhard says the recount of ballots from the April Supreme Court election showed only a minimal change. Unofficially, incumbent Justice David Prosser gained two votes while challenger JoAnne Kloppenburg gained eight.
Gebhard says the biggest task of the recount was getting through the votes of larger communities, which took most of their time last Thursday. However, she says they were able to complete their work last Friday afternoon.
All told, the recount took three days. The final totals show, in Grant County, Kloppenburg had just over 5,700 votes and Prosser just over 4,300.
Recounts continue in most other Wisconsin counties. Several of the more populated areas, such as Milwaukee and Dane Counties, are expected to take up to the May 9th deadline to complete their work.
