The Green Bay Catholic Diocese is responding after a fraud lawsuit was filed against it this week in Outagamie County court. The lawsuit, filed by two victims of former Freedom priest John Feeney, claims the diocese didn't do enough to protect them against the clergyman, who had a previous history of abuse. Deacon Tim Reilly says the Green Bay Catholic Diocese has compassion for anyone who has been abused, but takes exception to a claim by a victims' rights group that it has uncovered secret documents relating to pedophile priests. Reilly says attorneys for the victims stated their case when they filed the lawsuit, and in the coming weeks the Diocese will respond to the allegations.
