Green Bay Phoenix logo 2Halfway through the Horizon League season, the home teams are holding serve.  Visiting Green Bay (17-5, 6-2 HL) fell behind early and went on to lose to Cleveland State (13-10, 7-2 HL) 76-62.  The loss snapped a five-game winning streak in the series for Green Bay.

The Vikings used a 16-0 run to turn a 9-8 lead into a 25-8 margin midway through the first half.  Green Bay ended the half on a 13-7 run but still trailed 32-21 at halftime.

Green Bay scored the first six points of the second half to climb to within six points, but Cleveland State responded with a 9-0 run to go up 15 with 12:32 to play.

The Phoenix had another run in them, this time outscoring the Vikings 8-1, but Cleveland State responded one more time and never let the lead slip below double-digits the rest of the way.

Junior Carrington Love led four Phoenix players in double figures with 14 points.  Keifer Sykes, who dealt with foul trouble in the first half, finished with 11 points, nine of which coming in the second half.

Trey Lewis had 25 points and Anton Grady 24 to lead the Vikings.

Green Bay returns to action at Wright State on Monday night.  The Phoenix won the first meeting between the two teams in Green Bay 78-55 at the Resch Center.
