The UW-Green Bay women’s basketball team finished the season ranked No. 9 in the final ESPN/USA Today coaches poll, moving up two spots from No. 11. The ranking is the highest in Phoenix history.
The Phoenix finished the season 34-2. They were second in both won-lost percentage and assists per game and third in both turnover margin and free-throw percentage.
Green Bay won 94.4 percent of its games compared to national leader Connecticut, who won 94.7 percent of its games. Gonzaga topped the rankings in assists per game with 20.1, edging out the Phoenix who finished second with 20.0.
With its 78.1-percent shooting from the free-throw line, Green Bay finished third in the statistic behind national leader Bowling Green who shot 79.9 percent. In addition, the Phoenix was third in turnover margin (7.97) as National Champion Texas A & M led the nation with its 8.03 margin.
