The UW-Green Bay women’s basketball team made history on Monday night.  The Phoenix (27-4) became the first Horizon League team to receive an at-large bid to the NCAA women’s tournament.

Green Bay received a 12-seed and will play 5th-seeded Virginia in an opening round game in Ames, Iowa on Sunday night.  Green Bay was included in the field after seeing their 27-game home court win streak end at the hands of Cleveland State in the Horizon League Tournament semifinals.

This is Green Bay’s 1oth trip to the NCAAtourney and second in three seasons under coach Matt Bollant.  Green Bay has a 2-9 all-time NCAA record.
