For the fourth time in seven seasons and the first under head coach Matt Bollant, the UW-Green Bay women’s basketball team is ranked in the Top 25 AP Poll.  Green Bay received 94 points to crack the poll after winning their 27th consecutive regular season game over the weekend, starting the season with a 9-0 record.

Prior to this week’s ranking, the earliest Green Bay has been in the poll was Dec. 16, 2002.

The highest Green Bay has been ranked in the polls was 16th during the 2002-03 season.  That same year, the Phoenix concluded the remainder of the season ranked 21st with a 20-1 record beating Washington in the first round of the NCAA tournament before falling to LSU in the second round.

During the 2004-05 season Green Bay did not crack the poll until mid February.  the 24th-ranked Phoenix went on to finish the season with a 7-1 record before losing to Maryland in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

Green Bay is one of 10 teams in the AP Poll without a loss this season.  The Lady Phoenix will try to push their record to 10-0 when they host in-state rival Marquette this Saturday at the Kress Events Center (7pm).
