A teenager who prosecutors allege helped himself to a big Christmas present is now facing big trouble.

Andrew Selvig of Taylors Falls, Minnesota, faces criminal charges for taking a lock box from the basement of his grandparents Polk County home. Inside, say investigators, was more than 230-thousand dollars. Selvig's grandfather says the eighteen year-old and a friend came to the grandparents home in Amery to celebrate the holidays. The grandfather became suspicious after learning that Selvig had gifted his mom 500 dollars, and had bought his dad a car. He found the lock box missing, and it turned up in a truck which police say Selvig bought with more of the stolen money.

Selvig is in jail in Minnesota, and a warrant has been issued for his friend. The grandparents own a restaurant, and told police that for many years they'd place 100 dollar bills they'd received there in the lock box.
