After Tony Kornheiser stepped down from his spot in the Monday Night Football (MNF) broadcast booth after three seasons, the NFL and ESPN have handed the 3rd spot in the booth over to former coach Jon Gruden.
Gruden will join the team of play-by-play man Mike Tirico and analyst Ron Jaworski.
The 40th season of MNF kicks off Sept. 14 with a doubleheader, Buffalo at New England and San Diego at Oakland.
Gruden was fired by Tampa Bay on Jan. 16 after the Buccaneers failed to make the playoffs. He was replaced in Tampa by defensive coordinator Raheem Morris.
Gruden has indicated he still wants to coach, but until that opportunity comes along, he'll give the broadcast booth a shot.
