A Marathon County judge sends a Wausau man to prison for 12 years, for attacking his ex-wife with the claw end of a hammer.
Leonard Quintana was sentenced Wednesday for the 2004 attack, in which he struck his ex-wife three times in the head while she slept in 2004. Quintana asked his ex-wife and their children for forgiveness, "if not now, over time."
The victim appeared in court with her new husband. A staffer with the D-A's office read her statement on her behalf, in which she called Quintana "a selfish, greedy individual with absolutley no respect for anyone or anything." Assistant district attorney LaMont Jacobson said Quintana deserved the maximum sentence of 15 years in prison, dut defense attorney Bill Kerner says Quintana has shown remorse, and taken responsibility for his crime. The judge also sentenced Quintana to eight years on extended supervision.
