Green Bay Packers defensive end Anthony Hargrove appealed his 8-game
suspension to Commissioner Roger Goodell in New York on Monday. Yesterday, Hargrove held an informal news conference and said it’s not his voice saying “Give me the money” in a video used by the NFL as evidence in its investigation of the Saints’ Bounty program.
Hargrove says the NFL has its evidence wrong. He said, “In their rush to convict me, they made a very serious error.”
The NFL on Monday showed reporters a clip from the 2010 NFC Championship Game in which Hargrove purportedly made the “money” comment with regards to injuring Vikings quarterback Brett Favre. But Hargrove insisted that the words came from someone else.
The NFL isn’t backing down. Spokesman Greg Aiello said: “We stand by the findings of our investigation.”
Hargrove has offered nothing in the way of evidence as to who did make the “money” comment. He’s only saying the voice on the clip is not his.
