Every year there’s that one player that arrives on the scene at the All-Star Home Run Derby and turns heads. Brewers outfielder Corey Hart was that player in round 1 last night, clubbing 13 home runs, more than any other player in the field.
Then came a long break, about an hour and a half from Hart’s round 1 performance to round 2, and Hart lost his momentum. The Brewers outfielder went homer-less in round 2 and quickly faded from the competition.
Boston’s David Ortiz beat Florida’s Hanley Ramirez 11-5 in the finals at Angel Stadium in Anaheim.

No doubt Hart found it difficult to turn it on again in round 2 after turning things off after round 1. Clubbing 13 home runs also took a little out of him.

Hart said he enjoyed the experience and now looks forward to starting for the National League with teammate Ryan Braun as the National League looks to win an all-star game for the first time since 1996.
