Corey Hart went 0-for-3 in yesterday’s 12-7 Cactus League win over the Chicago Cubs, seeing his spring average dip to .127. Hart has just one hit in his last 27 at-bats, and his chance to start opening day may be in jeopardy.
Milwaukee Brewers Manager Ken Macha (pictured) said he is considering giving veteran Jim Edmonds a start in right field on Monday. Edmonds is a left handed hitter and would be facing Colorado right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez.
Edmonds is expected to be back in camp today after missing the last couple of games attending to an urgent family matter in California. Macha said he’d like to get Edmonds some at bats over the next three days to get him ready for the opener.
In Cactus League play on Wednesday, the Brewers scored 8-runs in the 8th inning to pull out a 12-7 win. Prince Fielder clubbed a 3rd inning grand slam and pitcher Yovani Gallardo tuned up for his opening day start by allowing just 3-hits in four innings of work. The Brewers face Arizona in the Cactus League finale today.
