An Eau Claire County man is dead after a high-speed chase ended in a head-on crash with a squad car Thursday morning. Eau Claire County Sheriff Ron Cramer said one of his deputies responded to a call from the State Patrol chasing a suspect fleeing east from Osseo on U.S. Highway 10 around 2:00 a.m. Cramer said the deputy got out to deploy stop sticks in the road near Fairchild. “The (suspect) vehicle took his squad head on as the car was off the shoulder of the road,” said Cramer. “The driver of the vehicle was killed instantly.” The State Patrol identified the driver as 30 year-old Ryan Bogdonovich of Fairchild. The Deputy was not hurt. Cramer said it appears alcohol led to the pursuit. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the crash.
