Motion WThe Wisconsin men’s hockey team coughed up a two-goal lead on Friday night and fell to Michigan State.  They weren’t about to repeat that performance on Saturday.

Leading 3-0 after two periods, this time the Badgers held that lead.  Freshman goaltender Matt Jurusik made 28 saves, including 15 in the third period as the Badgers held on for the win and salvaged a split in the weekend series in East Lansing.

Seamus Malone gave Wisconsin a 1-0 lead at the 4:50 mark of the second period.  Matthew Frey tag doubled it with seven minutes left and Luke Kunin made it a  three-goal frame with less than a minute left.

The Badgers improved to 4-7-5, including a 1-2-1-0 mark in Big Ten play.  Their next game is an exhibition against Trinity Western on New Years Day.

Badger Women tie North Dakota

The top-ranked Badger women’s hockey team earned the extra point by winning a shootout after its game at North Dakota ended in a scoreless tie.

The Badgers outshot North Dakota 41-17.  Annie Pankowski and Sydney McKibbon found the net in the shootout.

Goaltender Ann-Renee Desbiens collected her N-C-A-A leading 10th shutout of the season and 27th of her career.  The Badgers still lead the nation in scoring defense, allowing just point-six goals-a-game.

The Badgers are now off until January 8th against Minnesota-Duluth at LaBahn Arena.
