The second-seeded Wisconsin men’s hockey team (24-9-4) moves into the semifinals of the WCHAFrozen Five and will face 3rd-seeded St. Cloud State (22-12-5) on Friday at 2pm at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota.

The Badgers were the first team to advance to the Final Five, posting 4-1 and 7-2 victories over Alaska Anchorage last Friday and Saturday at the Kohl Center.

Denver advances as the top seed and will take on the winner of Thursday’s play-in game between North Dakota and Minnesota-Duluth.

The Badgers split with the Huskies during the regular season.  In St. Cloud, the Badgers fell 4-1 and won 4-1 in November.  In February at the Kohl Center, the Badgers fell 5-1 and won 7-4.

It was another good weekend for goaltender Scott Gudmandson against Anchorage and Mike Eaves said he’ll give Gudmandson another start against St. Cloud State on Friday.
