In response to the recent torrential rains and devastating flooding that is overwhelming communities throughout southern Wisconsin, Allen Edmonds is donating a portion of sales from its annual Tent Sale to benefit area victims hardest hit by the disaster.
Allen Edmonds President and CEO Mark Birmingham says his heart goes out to flood victims. His company is using its loyal customer base to raise money for flood victims.
"As we sat back as an organization and watched our friends and families and coworkers and people throughout the state and the country go through these hardships related to the storms, we really sat back and thought 'how can we give back? How can we help out?'"
The last five US presidents have been paying customers of Allen Edmonds, as well as celebrities, high-profile individuals and generally people who care about quality Wisconsin made shoes.
Birmingham says Allen Edmonds has been manufacturing shoes in Wisconsin since 1922, and they pride in their product and loyalty to the Badger State. They wanted to give back to the friends and neighbors who've supported them for the past 85 years.
He says it was coincidental that the rain and floods are taking place during their biggest sale of the year, so they had to take advantage of their high customer base and help their fellow Wisconsinites.
