The UW-Milwaukee Panthers blew an 11-point lead with just under eleven minutes to play and fell to Northern Kentucky 75-71.
J.J. Panoske hit a three-pointer to give the Panthers (15-9, 6-5 HL) a 60-49 second half lead. The Norse (9-14, 6-7 HL) outscored the Panthers 26-11 the rest of the way.
Panoske had 21 points and eight rebounds to lead the Panthers.
Green Bay falls at Wright State
Wright State jumped out to a big lead early and went on to beat the Green Bay Phoenix 79-60 at the Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio on Saturday.
The Phoenix turned it over ten times in the first ten minutes and a season high 18 times in the game.
The Raiders improved to 12-1 at home this season, holding Green Bay 26 points below its season average.
Senior point guard Carrington Love had 17 points to lead the Phoenix.
Green Bay senior forward Jordan Fouse became the program’s all-time steals leader with a single steal in the second half. Fouse has 238 career steals and is nine away from breaking the Horizon League record of 246 set by former Youngstown State standout Kendrick Perry.
Women’s action
Junior guard Tesha Buck poured in 23 points to lead the Green Bay Phoenix women to a 69-46 win over the rival Milwaukee Panthers before 3,197 fans at the Kress Center in Green Bay on Saturday. The Phoenix swept the two-game regular-season series and won their 23rd in the last 24 meetings against the Panthers.
Green Bay scored the first 17 points in the second quarter and was on a 19-0 run before the Panthers finally scored their first points with two minutes, 30 seconds left in the half.
Bucks also moved into fourth place all-time for three pointers made in Green Bay program history with 167. Buck now has 917 points in her career.
The Phoenix defensively forced 23 Milwaukee turnovers and held the Panthers to 22-percent shooting from the field in the first half.
The win gives Green Bay a three-game advantage on Milwaukee in the Horizon League standings, plus the head-to-head tie-breaker.
