The Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation reminds gun deer hunters that if they plan to go near-or-on private property, they should clear it with the landowner. State law requires permission hunt on someone’s land.
Spokesman Casey Langan also says there does not need to be “No Trespassing” sign for the activity to be against the law. If land owners are having problems with trespassing they are being asked to call the county sheriff rather than the DNR as wardens don’t have the authority to investigate such complaints.
Langan says these matters are best discussed prior to opening day. The season starts Saturday and runs through November 25.
