After the Green Bay Packers 26-7 win over the Chicago Bears, Brett Favre looked like a man that was ready to end his playing career.
After the game, Favre posed with teammates for pictures, then when asked by a National Television reporter whether this would be his last season, Favre said he wasn't sure, but he would make up his mind soon. He also added, "you couldn't ask for a better way to go out." After the game, Favre refused to discuss his future.
Favre's dominance over Chicago continued with the victory. The Packers are 22 and 8 with Favre at the helm, 12-2 at Soldier Field.
Favre is undergoing ankle surgery this morning and having the procedure done so promptly after the end of the season might lead one to believe that he's using the result of that surgery to help him decide whether or not to return for another season.
Favre might have had every reason to step away before the start of this season. I can't believe he'd actually walk out before the start of the next one. Favre is within easy striking distance of several top NFL passing records, not to mention the Packers should be better next season and not worse. Throw in the fact that Favre would earn $11-million next season and there's plenty of reasons to think he'll be back.
Nobody wants to tell Favre what to do, but he stayed this long, why not stay one more year and give Packers fans what they want to see. They want to see #4 own every major NFL passing record on the way to guaranteed spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Who knows, he might just help the Packers return to the playoffs.
