Baseball's winter meetings wrap up today and the Brewers don't have a lot to show for Doug Melvin's time away.  Of course it does take two to tangle, but I hope the Brewers GM has something else in mind.

The Brewers off-season has been pretty uneventful.  They've signed a free agent catcher, Jason Kendall and now a free agent setup man David Riske.  The Riske deal should be a good one for the Brewers, but I'm not sold on Kendall.

They're talking about getting a third baseman, which would send Ryan Braun to left field.  But need I remind the Brewers why they didn't make the playoffs last season.  They came up short because their bullpen was terrible in the second half.  So far we have David Riske as the only bullpen addition and after losing Francisco Cordero to the Reds, it's looking like Derrick Turnbow could wind up being the Brewers closer again this season.  That's not real assuring.

It's not necessarily early, but it's not too late either.  Doug Melvin has time to strengthen that bullpen.  The Brewers GM shouldn't need any reminding just how bad the teams bullpen collapsed in the 2nd half of last season.
