The Green Bay Packers’ coaches are concentrating on a self scout early this

week, then will turn their focus on the next opponent, the Detroit Lions in Detroit a week from Sunday. 

Following that, the coaches will get a little time off and it’s back to work next Monday. 

Packers’ players were cleared from all football duties following the win over Arizona on Sunday, except those that are nursing injuries.  Those players will have to hang around this week for rehab.

Mike McCarthy wants his players to get away, rest their bodies and their minds.  He wants them to spend time with family and be ready to go for the stretch drive, which includes 5 of the last 7 games against opponents from the NFC North.

Unfortunately, the Packers have been dealing with several injuries for much of the first 9-games this season and it looks like they’ll deal with them even longer. 

Clay Matthews, who has had hamstring issues for much of his short but illustrious career in Green Bay, suffered yet another hamstring injury in Sunday’s win over Arizona.  The Packers believe they’ve caught a break.  They say Matthews isn’t expected to be down for long.

Wide receiver Jordy Nelson suffered an ankle injury that isn’t believed serious.

But right tackle Bryan Bulaga has a hip injury and the Packers are sending him to see a specialist to more accurately gauge the seriousness of that injury.

The Packers also say Nick Perry is seeking a second opinion on his injured knee.

The Packers are confident about the future return of players like Charles Woodson, Cedric Benson and Sam Shields.  But for now, they’re trying to deal with the rising injury numbers and a second half schedule that is busy with NFC North opponents.
