An interfaith gathering in downtown Racine Sunday remembered the many victims and heroes of the 9/11 attacks, ten years ago. Mayor John Dickert took note of the strength America showed that day, from all walks of life & religious backgrounds.
“We were hurt but we did not give up. As a matter of fact everyone came together in a way that we think all of us have to remember.”
Rabbi Martin Adelberg of Beth Israel Sinai Temple said the biggest tragedy of that day is that it turned people of different religions against one another.
“We must be careful, terribly careful, to avoid stereotyping any group because of the actions of a few.”
About 150 attended Racine’s 9/11 memorial event including children not born when it happened A dozen firefighters were in attendance many of whom had to leave and go do their job.
