Heading into last night's 6-1 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals, Brewers pitcher Dave Bush appeared to be the likely candidate to get moved out of the starting rotation in favor of Yovanni Gallardo will is due to come off the disabled list soon. Bush was 0-2 with an 8.44 ERA in his first two starts.
Last night, Bush worked six innings, allowed 3 runs on six hits and was saddled with the loss, falling to 0-3. But the outing was still his best of the season to date.
The game was tied 1-1 in the fifth, but Skip Schumaker lined a single to put the Cardinals up 2-1 and Chris Duncan's single to follow, scoring Schumaker.
Bush's ERA dropped to 7.02 despite the loss.
Brewers manager Ned Yost said Gallardo will join the rotation in the next week, but just exactly where he fits in remains to be seen.
