The UW-La Crosse baseball and tennis teams had their programs eliminated in the last week, but not so fast.
Chancellor Joe Gow said last Friday that the two programs were being eliminated to help plug a $400,000 budget gap. But Gow delayed notifying the WIAC because of strong response from the community.
The Chancellor says if enough potential donors can privately fund the programs, both can be saved. Baseball needs about $50,000 and tennis about $40,000 to return next season and the funds must be raised by Sept. 1.
