Police say a Janesville woman stabbed herself and her husband early this morning, before fatally shooting herself.

Janesville Police Chief Dave Moore says officers responded to a residence just before 3:00 Wednesday morning for a report of a domestic dispute. Upon arriving on the scene, police met with 32-year-old Carl Rowan, who told officers his wife, 31-year-old Hollie Rowan, had stabbed him in the hand and herself in the arm. Rowan told officers his wife might have a gun.

Police then entered the home, finding Hollie Rowan dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Carl Rowan had called 911 after the stabbing, and stayed on the line with operators outside of his house until police arrived while his wife could be heard in the background. Neither police, Rowan, nor the three children asleep inside the house heard a gunshot.

Carl Rowan is a trooper with the Wisconsin State Patrol, where he’s been employed since 2002. Police do not consider him a suspect in Hollie Rowan’s death.
