For the first time since 1992, Wisconsin will have a Republican Senator once Ron Johnson is sworn in, in January. The Oshkosh businessman defeated three term incumbent Democrat Russ Feingold Tuesday by a 53 to 46 percent margin. During his victory speech in Oshkosh, Johnson said he will get to work immediately. He said his top priorities are repealing the health care reform law and cutting spending.

Senator Russ Feingold offered his concession to Johnson as Johnson was declared the winner in the hard fought U.S. Senate race. “The people of Wisconsin have spoken, and I respect their decision,” said Feingold. While the Oshkosh businessman accepted the challenge of his new job. “I understand now that I represent all of the citizens of Wisconsin, and I take that responsibility very seriously,” said Johnson. Johnson pledged to work to “restore fiscal sanity” and “the American spirit” while Feingold pledged to work on the 2012 elections.
