Suspended Green Bay Packers defensive lineman Johnny Jolly was sentenced to six years in prison on Thursday for violating the terms

of his probation for a 2008 drug conviction.
The 28-year-old Jolly was charged with possession of a compound containing codeine, a controlled substance, after a traffic stop in Houston in October. He was also charged with tampering with evidence for attempting to conceal the substance from the investigating officers.
The October arrest put Jolly in jeopardy of receiving prison time after pleading guilty in April to a codeine possession charge in a deal that wiped out an earlier charge and spared him from prison unless he stumbled again.
Jolly was a 6th round draft pick of the Packers in 2006 after playing at Texas A & M. He started all 32 games for the Packers from 2008 to 2009.
Jolly was suspended indefinitely from the NFL since the 2009 off-season. The arrest was his 3rd in three years.
