in a win over the Saints. But wide receiver James Jones had little to do with it and is frustrated by it.
Jones talked with reporters after practice yesterday, following his 1-catch performance against the Saints. Of the top four receivers, Jones had the fewest number of snaps. A good portion of his opportunities came in the run-based “jumbo” formation as well.
Jones signed a 3-year deal worth $9.6-million at the start of training camp. He said he wasn’t disappointed that he had just 1-catch, he was more frustrated with his standing on the sideline and not being a part of the game plan.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers warned reporters not to get carried away after just 1-game. He encouraged them to avoid going to every receiver who is the low man on the totem pole, and getting a reaction.
Last season, Jones and Jordy Nelson shared the third receiver job and got several opportunities throughout the season. But if Jones stays as a clear-cut number-4, then it’s likely his opportunities will be more limited.
