A state Assembly candidate has had her lawsuit over a controversial ballot statement rejected.

A federal judge has dismissed on Wednesday the lawsuit filed by Milwaukee Independent Ieshuh Griffin, who sought to have the phrase “Not the whiteman’s bitch” listed as her statement of purpose on the ballot this fall.

Griffin is an Independent candidate in the 10th Assembly District in Milwaukee. She is among several people running to replace retiring state Representative Annette “Polly” Williams.

Griffin says the statement is meant to reflect that she’s not a token politician that will roll over like a female dog.

The Government Accountability Board last month rejected the ballot statement, based on its racially charged nature. The judge dismissed the lawsuit on the grounds that Griffin filed it as a habeas corpus action, which normally requires a person to be in custody.

Griffin, who is black, has said she will appeal the ruling.
