After a four-day trial a Fond du Lac County jury finds a 37-year-old Brookfield man guilty of murder. The big question in Brandon Mueller’s trial wasn’t whether he killed 28-year-old Renee Redmer at his mother’s apartment in Fond du Lac, but whether it was intentional. The jury decided he was guilty of that and destroying Redmer’s body.

District Attorney Dan Kaminsky says Mueller had a proven temper and it went it too far on that day in January last year. Mueller contended the two had been doing drugs for days and he choked the Waukesha woman, but she suffered a seizure and died of a drug overdose. Kaminsky says that will never be known.

Mueller’s attorney Patrick Earle argued for a lesser offense of 2nd degree reckless homicide; the difference between 15 years in prison and the possibility of life that Mueller now faces when he’s sentenced for 1st degree intentional homicide in December.
