As of today, you can get your prescription drugs dirt cheap! All 83 of Wal-mart's pharmacies throughout Wisconsin are now offering 331 generic medications for just four bucks. Janet Jenkins, administrator of the Division of Trade and Consumer Protection, refers to a provision under Wisconsin's Unfair Sales Act. Wal-mart is able to offer such low prices because of its unrivaled buying power, or as they say, volume … volume … volume.

Jenkins says, another benefit from Walmart's decision to offer such low prices on their generic drugs is that other pharmacies, which wouldn't otherwise be in compliance with the law, can lower their prices to match Walmart … even if it's below their cost.

Jenkins agrees, this kind of competition is good news for patients. Wal-Mart's program started in September in Florida. Now, all but one state offers Wal-Mart's four-dollar prescriptions. Walgreens says it will not match Wal-Mart's new prices.
