A Wisconsin Congressman says the federal government is taking action against companies that receive tax credits and then ship jobs overseas.

Appleton Democrat Steve Kagen met Tuesday with union workers in Kaukauna, after taking a trip to Texas. Kagen says that’s where the Shaw Group moved jobs to nearby Mexico, while also receiving financial help from the federal government.

Kagen says a new law recently signed by the President bans that practice, and that could have an impact on workers in northeastern Wisconsin. He says there’s a price to be paid when our tax dollars go overseas to support low-paying jobs.

Kagen also spoke with agents for the border patrol and customs during a visit to the border in Brownsville, Texas. He says the federal government needs to secure the border and ensure immigrants are in the country legally.
