A former state senator is the new president of Wisconsin Motor Carriers Association. Neal Kedzie will taking over the post from Tom Howells, who’s retiring as the head of the organization after 35 years. The former GOP senator from Elkhorn starts the new job July 1st. Kedzie had announced in April that he would seek re-election, then reversed course in May, saying he wanted more time with his family and to pursue opportunities outside of state government. Kedzie abruptly resigned from office on June 16.

Wisconsin Motor Carriers Association is a non-profit trade group with more than one-thousand members. The 58-year-old Kedzie was first elected to the Senate in 2002 and also served four years in the state Assembly.
