A proposal to lower the drinking age for members of the military is drawing opposition from MADD.

Wisconsin is one of several states that are considering dropping the legal drinking age to 18, for those with an active military I.D. card. Kari Kinnard, executive director of Mothers Against Drunk Driving in Wisconsin, says it's a bad idea that could result in more lives lost each year.

Kinnard says the results were devastating during the Vietnam War, when the drinking age was last lowered. She says the military lost an average of a battalion's worth of soldiers a year to drunk driving.

Kinnard says MADD fully supports the troops, but points out that even the military doesn't like the idea.
