City officials in Kenosha are looking into the circumstances that led to a Monday night house explosion, while also figuring the liability factor in the extent of damage to homes and businesses in that immediate area.
City Administrator Frank Pacetti says the house itself, being done with city HOME project funds, was nearly completed and one of four city-owned homes in that neighborhood. He says they were eventually planning on selling the home to someone who normally couldn’t afford one.
Pacetti says they have to determine how much damage was done to other buildings for determining what the city needs to do in assisting both residents and-or building owners.
City building inspectors went checking other buildings, with the most serious damage appearing to be directly east on 22nd Avenue, which has a gym, tavern and some apartments.
A list of homes nearby suffered varying degrees of damage, including blown out windows, while debris was even left hanging in the trees.
