A convicted Wausau murderer loses an appeal. Kevin Zarm had argued that the trial judge should not have allowed prosecutors to use other burglary and arson convictions in his murder trial. But Marathon County district attorney Jill Falstad says the evidence was appropriate to establish motive and identity, and a state appeals court agreed. Zarm killed 84-year-old Sylvia Grade after she caught him breaking into her garage in September 2003.

An attorney representing Zarm's appeal could not be reached for comment. And Falstad isn't sure if they'll appeal the ruling. Zarm is serving a life prison sentence with no chance of early release.
