A "pay-per-view" football future? Congressman Ron Kind goes to bat for angry Packer fans. Tonight's game at Lambeau will not be available to TV viewers across most of the state. The La Crosse Democrat and former college quarterback acknowledges that his letter to N-F-L Commissioner Roger Goodell will have no impact on that, but he's hoping for a change by next season.
Viewers who do not have access to the NFL Network via satellite TV are out of luck — unless they want leave the house. "For a father like myself, with two little boys who I like to watch these games with, I shouldn't have to be taking them to a bar or tavern if we want to see this on TV," says Kind. Kind notes that ticket prices at typical NFL stadium are out of the reach of ordinary families, and he's worried the same might happen to TV availability. In his letter to Goodell, he notes "NFL Network is inaccessible and cost prohibitive" to many in Western Wisconsin.
