Wisconsin's two U.S. Senators voted in favor of a fourteen billion dollar rescue plan for the auto industry. Negotiations collapsed Thursday night after Republicans and Democrats failed to agree on the timing of wage cuts for union workers. In a statement, Democrat Russ Feingold said allowing domestic auto makers to fail could be catastrophic for the nation's econom and could send already increasing unemployment levels skyrocketing. Feingold said he was disappointed some Senators who didn't hesitate to bail out Wall Street, decided not to help millions of working Americans. Democrat Herb Kohl also voted for the measure. Observers believe killing the plan could threaten domestic carmakers with bankruptcy.
