The sense of urgency may have passed when it comes to dealing with Influenza-A, but U.S. Senator Herb Kohl (D-WI) says the nation can't afford to forget about the potential threat down the road.

Kohl says health officials need to continue planning for how to handle future cases. Part of that plan should be to develop a vaccine that can help prevent cases of H1N1 and making sure enough supplies are available this fall.

The Wisconsin Democrat says that even though the virus appears to be milder than originally expected, future cases could prove to be more lethal if steps are not taken now.

During a hearing on Capitol Hill Thursday, Kohl applauded health agencies for their rapid response to the outbreak. He says there was strong coordination between all levels of government and a consistent and timely message was given to the public. Kohl says those efforts need to continue.
