The University of Wisconsin women's basketball team earned the 7th seed for the 2009 Big Ten Conference Tournament to be held Thursday-Sunday at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.  The Badgers (16-13 overall, 6-12 Big Ten) will take on No. 10 Northwestern (7-22, 3-15) at 11am Thursday in the tournament's opening game.

The Badgers tied for seventh in the regular-season Big Ten standings with Penn State.  UW earned the tiebreaker by virtue of a 54-51 win over second-place Michigan State in the team's home finale.  The Wildcats take the No. 10 seed after finishing the conference slate 3-15, in a tie with Michigan

Wisconsin has faced Northwestern only one other time in tournament history, downing the Wildcats 60-58 in the first round of the 2002 tournament.  Northwestern downed the Badgers 49-46 in Evanston, Ill., on Jan. 4 in the only match-up between the two teams this season.
