Great_Lakes_from_spaceThe water level on Lake Superior in May was 5 inches above the long term average and the highest it has been since 1997. According to the International Lake Superior Board of Control, the lake rose 8 inches last month compared to an average rise in May of 4 inches.

At the beginning of June, Lake Superior is 13 inches above the level recorded a year ago and is expected to continue its seasonal rise during the month. The net water supplies to Lake Michigan-Huron were also well above average in May, and  is also expected to continue its seasonal rise in June.
