Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy announced today that T.J. Lang would get the start at left guard in Friday night’s preseason game against Arizona at Lambeau Field.

Lang has some experience as a starter, getting the call in relief of injured players three times in his rookie season.  This time, Lang is battling for the starting job with rookie 1st round draft pick Derek Sherrod and Lang appears to have the upper hand.

In other training camp news, McCarthy ruled out 5-players from playing tomorrow night.  OL Adrian Battles, OL Chris Campbell, DE Lawrence Guy, S Anthony Levine and S/CB Brandon Underwood.

Defensive end Mike Neal is considered day-to-day.  Mike McCarthy said yesterday (Wednesday) that Neal didn’t undergo any kind of test on his knee that he sprained in practice earlier in the day.  Today, McCarthy said he was given incorrect information and Neal did in fact undergo an MRI.  He said Neal is still day-to-day and didn’t rule him out of tomorrow night’s game.

Veteran linebacker Clay Matthews will be evaluated tomorrow before determining his status for tomorrow night’s game.  Matthews had his hamstring tighten up on him earlier today.  Mike McCarthy was asked if Matthews will always have to be aware of his hamstring issues.
