Frank Lasee has advanced to the general election by securing the GOP nomination in the first Senate district in Tuesday’s primary. He easily carried Northern Manitowoc County defeating Dave Hutchinson by a nearly three-to-one margin. Green Bay area businessman John Soyring was a distant third.

Lasee credits his message of small government and balancing the budget without raising taxes as a reason for the victory. Lasee, who served in the Second Assembly District from 1994 to 2008, also credits his previous experience in the legislature.

His Democratic opponent in November’s general election will be physician Monk Elmer in November’s general election. Elmer plans to fight for jobs and keeping costs down for small businesses through lower taxes and health care costs, according his campaign website.

The district will be represented by someone other than Alan Lasee who said he would not seek another term after 33 years in the legislature.
