A career change may be in the works for a veteran lawmaker. State Senator Alan Lasee has announced that he's running for Brown County Executive. Lasee just won another term in the state senate last month, but feels now its time to try something else. "The Republicans ended up in the minority in the state Senate, so I lost my Senate president's job," Lasee explained to WHBY radio in Appleton.
Lasee, best known as an advocate for restoring the death penalty in Wisconsin, said that as county executive he would offer his 30 plus years of expertise in the state legislature to Brown County. "I think Brown County could use some stability," Lasee said, adding that his experience would be helpful in dealing with Brown County Board of Supervisors, which he said "is always in the news as relates to fights and disagreements."
Lasee joins two other candidates in the run for the county executive seat being left vacant by Carol Kelso , herself a former state legislator. Current Brown County board member Pat Evans, and former Brown County Sheriff Tom Hinz have already announced their candidacies.
