Brewers logoThe Chicago Cubs rallied in the 7th inning, scoring five times to come from behind and beat the Milwaukee Brewers 6-5 at Miller  Park on Sunday.

Anthony Rizzo’s bases-clearing double off Will Smith was the big blow as the two teams played for four hours and eight minutes in the extreme heat.

The Brewers had their chances, putting runners on second and third with nobody out in the sixth inning off of veteran Joe Nathan.  But Nathan struck out Ryan Braun, Jonathan Lucroy and Chris Cater to get out of the jam.

Trailing 6-4 in the ninth, Kirk Nieuwenhuis clubbed a solo home run to right to close the scoring.  Nieuwenhuis now has three home runs in his last two games.

The Brewers stole six bases on the day, the eleventh time in team history and first since May of 2013 at Pittsburgh.

Junior Guerra posted his 10th quality start, allowing five hits and just one unearned run.  Guerra didn’t have his best stuff, but he did pitch out of trouble throughout the day.

Chase Anderson will pitch for the Brewers tonight as they open a four-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Miller Park.
