Some past issues may have haunted former state Attorney General Peg Lautenschlager in her bid to get onto the Fond du Lac School Board Tuesday. She finished third in a four-person race for two seats on the board.

Lautenschlager says some voters still have issue with her 2004 conviction for drunken driving. She adds a 1997 lawsuit she brought against the school district also created a buzz on social media during her campaign. Lautenschlager says the suit stemmed from a “horrific injury” her son sustained in baseball practice, due to misuse of a machine.

The former AG says her affiliation with the Democratic Party also was an issue with voters during an election that featured the GOP’s Presidential Primary.

Lautenschlager says incumbent Susan Jones is like-minded on a number of issues. She counts Jones’ reelection and important discussion about the issues, as good things that came out of her run for the board.
