A state lawmaker says the DNR is going to cost us a lot of money.
State Representative Frank Lasee says a new DNR rule requiring utilities to cut mercury emissions by 90-percent will dramatically drive up costs to consumers. The Green Bay area Republican believes electric bills could more than double as utilities work to meet the mandate.
Lasee says Wisconsin should not have emission standards that are stricter than those adopted by the federal government. He's calling on the DNR Board to reconsider.
