Layoff notices are coming from a major downtown Green Bay employer. APAC Customer Services will cut 282 workers from the payroll, as the company moves to close its Wireless Telecommunications program at the end of this year.

A release from the state Department of Workforce Development did not specify why the program was being shut down. The affected workers will receive pay and benefits through January 3. APAC employs about 1,000 workers at its downtown Green Bay location.

Last year on November 26th, APAC announced immediate expansion of 275 new employment positions for “multiple Fortune 500 clients in the Technology and Financial Services Sectors”. The positions were available on-site or work-at-home.
