Longtime football coaching legend Ron Rubick passed away Monday at the age of 67. Rubick was the head football coach at Manitowoc Lincoln for 32 seasons and led the Ships to nine conference championships, 10 playoff appearances and three straight WIAA Division 1 state football titles from 1984 to 1986.
Rubick's overall record is 179-106-3 and included a streak of 48 straight wins from 1983-87. That streak is a state record that still stands. Rubick was named the Associated Press Coach of the Year in 1985 and 1986 and the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Coach of the Year in 1986.
Rubick was inducted into the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1999.
